acronym for Regulamento das Características do Comportamento Térmico dos Edifícios (Regulation for the Characteristics of Buildings’ Thermal Behaviour). It applies to new buildings, or those that are to experience significant refurbishing. It took effect on the 4th July 2006 and is mandatory to be fulfilled by all the buildings covered by RCCTE.
