To calculate the Ecological Footprint it is necessary to sum all the components that can cause environmental impacts, such as: fossil fuels’ related activities; arable land; pastures; forest; urbanized area. Portugal’s Ecological Footprint is 4,4 ha; and a biocapacity of 2,1 ha, which means, it would be necessary 2 planets to maintain the medium padron of consumption. Approximately 60% of the ecological footprint of Portugal is explained with the levels of carbon emissions.
