Construction technique for building walls using raw materials (earth, chalk, lime and gravel), put inside a formwork, and compressed manualy with pestle or using mechanical devices. Earth has the capacity to regulate the interior environment, keeping the temperature and relative moisture within the comfort range. Rammed earth walls hamper heat input on summertime: the daily heat wave transmited to the wall is deadened and lagged in time, only reaching the interior when the external temperature is lower. On wintertime, these walls hamper heat loss due to their high thermal inertia.
